Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram was dissatisfied with his batting unit’s ‘lack of intent in the IPL 2023 match against Delhi Capitals.
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram was blunt in his assessment of the team’s performance against the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Chasing a modest 145-run total, the Hyderabad franchise could only muster 137 for 6 wickets, losing the match by 7 runs. After the game, Markram expressed his disappointment with his hitting team, which failed to show any intent in the match against the Capitals. He also stated that the SRH bowling unit does not deserve to lose.
“I’m not very good with a bat.” Unfortunately, there isn’t enough intent or excitement to win a game of cricket. We must return to explore how we might be free and better. It’s challenging because you can say all the right things, but the boys have to believe it. We want to play a certain style of cricket, and if we get it wrong, we’ll sleep much better at night. Tonight, we lacked intent, and we are letting us down as a result of that lack of intent. To be honest, I’d love to do that; it’s something I enjoy doing. You guys need to work hard [on inspiring the squad].
Markram has nothing but positive things to say about his bowling unit. “Incredibly proud of them, they kept it pretty simple and used the conditions really well,” he remarked. Our bowling does not deserve to be on the losing side, but a little optimism can’t hurt.”
The loss drops the Sunrisers to ninth in the points rankings, with only two wins from seven games. Despite their victory, the Delhi Capitals remained at the bottom of the league standings.
With the league stage of the season approaching its midway point, both SRH and DC must produce a series of positive results if they are to remain in contention for the playoffs.
