In the 1000th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians chased down a massive target of 213 runs against Rajasthan Royals to keep themselves in contention for a playoff position. MI’s fourth win in eight matches, but RR’s setback cost them the chance to reclaim first place in the points table. Yashasvi Jaiswal hit his first IPL century to set the stage for the Royals, but Tim David and Suryakumar Yadav’s heroics at the end allowed MI to take two points.

Rajasthan Royals would have gone top of the IPL 2023 points table if they had defeated Mumbai Indians on Sunday, but their defeat ensured that defending champions Gujarat Titans remained on top with 12 points. Four teams have 10 points each, with the Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Punjab Kings taking the following four slots.
With only two wins in eight games, the Delhi Capitals remain at the bottom of the league standings.

Jaiswal surpassed Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis in the score with a stunning century in the game against Mumbai. Jaiswal has scored 428 runs in 9 matches, while Du Plessis has scored 422 runs in 8 games.
