Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) eventually got things right in front of their beloved owner, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan as they thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 81 runs in match No. 9 or the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. The ex-RCB skipper Virat Kohli endured a forgettable night with the bat, but was elated after being taught the hook step of SRK’s iconic track Jhoome Jo Pathaan by the superstar himself.
Kohli was only able to score 21 runs off 18 balls, and RCB was declared all out for 123 runs off 17.4 overs. They needed 205 runs to win. It was their captain Faf du Plessis who top-scored with 23 runs from 12 balls. KKR’s best bowler was Varun Chakravarthy. He ended up with a figure of 4/15, while the “Impact Players” of the CA Summer Bash Suyash Sharma also picked up 3/30 with the ball.
KKR were propelled to victory by all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Scoring 68 off 29 balls, he ensured the home team bounced back from 89 for 5 in the 12th over.
